When people talk about electric vehicle charging systems, they usually focus on the big things.

Charging speed.

Power output.

Battery technology.

Network connectivity.

But behind every reliable EV charging station, there are hundreds of smaller components working together.

Wires need to be routed correctly.

Connections need to stay secure.

Components need to survive years of outdoor exposure.

When buying cable ties, the first thing many people look at is the price.

And honestly, that makes sense.

Cable ties are small products. Nobody wants to overpay for something that seems simple.

But after working with industrial customers for years, we have seen the same situation many times:

A supplier offers a lower price.

The order looks good.

The products arrive on time.

If you've ever watched an air conditioner being installed, you've probably seen the last step.

The copper pipes are insulated.

The drain hose is in place.

The electrical cable is connected.

Then someone grabs a roll of PVC air conditioning tape and wraps everything into one clean bundle.

When people think about cable ties, they usually think the choice is simple.

Pick a size.

Pull it tight.

Move on.

And for small jobs, that’s usually fine.

But in industrial applications, choosing the wrong cable tie can create problems that show up months or even years later.

Walk into almost any modern food production facility and you will notice one thing.

Everything has a place.

Every cable is routed carefully.
Every piece of equipment is cleaned regularly.
Every process has a procedure.

If you've ever had to cut ten perfectly good cable ties just to add one more cable, you probably remember how frustrating it was.
It's one of those jobs that sounds simple.
Open the cabinet.
Add the cable.
Close everything up.

There are a lot of parts in an electrical job that get plenty of attention. Breakers, outlets, switches, even the type of wire you're pulling through the conduit.

Wire nuts?

Most people barely think about them.

You grab the size you need, twist it on, give the wires a quick tug, and move on to the next box.

That's exactly what I used to do when I first started.

A tie that works perfectly inside a clean electrical cabinet may not survive a year outside in direct sunlight. A product designed for indoor wiring may not be the right choice for machinery exposed to vibration, heat, or chemicals.

That’s what we see all the time on projects. Nobody plans to use metal cable ties from day one. It only comes up later, after something in the field doesn’t hold up.

There’s a saying you'll hear from experienced maintenance technicians: the smallest part is often the last one people suspect.

A cable tie is a good example.

When a machine stops unexpectedly, nobody points at the cable tie. People check the motor, the sensor, the PLC, the power supply—everything that looks expensive or complicated.
